Our lovely jigsaw puzzles have arrived and they look super, smashing, great! Displaying our very own Bramble Wood by day when complete, and lying underneath the 18 piece puzzle is Bramble Wood by night, showing our four very sleepy characters that are Buddy Boo, Eric, Willow, and of course, Olive. At only £12.95 and printed in the EU, they’re a great addition to our mix and a great pressie for the little (and big) Land of Me fans! Snap them up here.

As Christmas is fast approaching the forecast looks like snow, and lots of it! We LOVE Winter, it conjures up so many wonderful images; crisp, white leaves crunching underneath your feet; snowball fights; long winter walks where everyone’s wrapped up in woolly hats and scarves. We want all adventurers to get involved with our whimsical day dreaming and draw, paint and create their very own ‘winter scene’. Post your creation on our Facebook page, or email us at hello@madeinme.com and the winner (we’ll pick our favourite) will receive our one and only HANDMADE Buddy Boo the bear soft toy. And yes, he really is as cute as he appears in the pic. This has to be the best prize ever, right?

Competition ends Monday 14th November at 5pm GMT.

Twit-tooo-woooop de dooooo! Whilst walking to work the other day I frolicked amongst the leaves and ‘bing!’ it struck me. Fallen, autumnal leaves look a lot like an owl’s feathers. So, dear readers here I have fashioned a Willow the owl from The Land of Me mask perfect for Halloween. Follow the easy peasy lemon squeezy tutorial below.

The Bits and Bobs you will need:

1. The Willow owl template from The Land of Me (above)
2. Leaves in all shades of autumn (brown, rust, yellow)
3. A tube o’ glue (I used UHU)
4. Yellow and brown felt
5. Child friendly scissors
6. A nice, sharp, pencil
7. A sheet of card
8. Ribbon/elastic/string to attach the mask to a little person’s head!

Step 1 – Snip, snip, snip
Click on the template above, print it out on some card (not too thick mind) and then cut out Willow’s face and plume ONLY. Stick them together. You need to make the holes for the string/elastic now! So, mums and dads, gently make a hole where indicated on the template and secure your string.

Step 2 – Let’s get leafy
This is where the fun starts! Take your leaves and start glueing them to the card. I started with the plume and worked down. Ripping the leaves instead of cutting them to size looks nicer as you get a more natural, ragged edge. Contine to do this until the card is covered.

Step 3 – Beaky beaky
Now cut out the beak from the template. Glue some brown felt to this small piece of card and then stick the tabs to the back of the mask. Now you should see your Willow coming to life!

Step 4 – Eye, eye
Cut out Willow’s eye shapes from your yellow felt. Place on the mask then gently feel where the hole is and draw a small circle on the felt. Cut out these little holes and then stick to the mask.

Step 5 – Eh Voila!
You now have a canny owl mask that will be the envy of any Halloween party!

The class decided on their favourite and Louise recreated a line at a time on the blackboard and the other children helped photograph it and created this sweet stop motion animation. How clever is that?

We’ve established a brand shining new Made in Me website. Don’t worry, The Land of Me blog isn’t going anywhere, it’s just going to focus exclusively on news, views, and other titbits from The Land of Me. With Me Books, our picture book app, now launched as well as other projects on the boil, we thought it best to keep all of our general Made in Me studio news and gossip on the new site.

So without further waffle, we present the new Made in Me site. Enjoy!

Hello peeps! I have returned from sunnier climes to resume my duty on the Friday Fives. Huge whoops to the lovely Meg Wang from Penguin who wrote some rather snazzy Fives for me whilst I was camping in sunny France. Merci beaucoup mon ami. Now then, some things will remain cool forever. Like The A-Team and brush tipped felt tip pens. Robots. There’s another one. Always cool. Et voila!

1. Wallpaper
This will set your antennas a-twitching readers. Check out this wonderfully retro robot wallpaper. Available in a few different colour palettes, this would go down a storm in a little ones bedroom. It’s pretty toppy for a single roll, so maybe better to only cover one wall. Probably best, otherwise your wee one might feel as if they’d woken up in an episode of Robot Wars every morning. And no one wants that. Check out designer Aimee Wilder’s site for more details.

2. Storage boxes
‘Robots in disguise’! Errr or not, more like ‘storage boxes in disguise!’ Hmm not quite as catchy but you get the gist. These are really nifty. Not only are they incredibly handy for keeping things in they also look super slick AND you can literally create your own robot! Fun times people, fun robo times. Yes indeed. The whizz kid behind this stroke of clever is the brilliantly named Guus Oosterbaan. You can get your hands on these mighty fine boxes here.

3. Stencils
Stencils are another one. They will always be cool. Beautiful things happen when the worlds of stencils and robots collide. Discover a smorgasbord of antennae, buttons, nuts and bolts and other robotic goodies so you can create a whole gaggle of robots. Make up stories, rustle up a comic strip or give the guys at Dr. Who some new ideas for a baddy. Snap one up here.

4. Build-a-robot
Now this get-up is emitting fun factor rays all over the shop. Beautifully crafted wooden pieces of android for your nippers to fit together to create their very own pet robot. Can you have a pet robot? I think so. Plan always dish out the best in wooden toys ensuring they are jam-packed with fun and learning too. There is something totally charming and topsy-turvy about a wooden robot and I, for one, am a whopping fan.

5. Cup Cake Mould
‘I command you to eat the contents of my head or you will be exterminated!’ If only you could hear me doing my best robot voice that first sentence would have been funny. These cupcake moulds are likely to make you bust out your best robo-dance. Fill them with your best cupcake mix, stick them in the oven and BOOM! A lovely, tasty army of robo-cakes. Yumbots by name. Yumbots by nature. Yum yum. Yum. Yum. Snag them here.
